About the farm
River Oak Turf is an Australian owned, family run business. We grow and supply premium quality turf grass and have rapidly become the number one choice for quality turf supply on the Northern Rivers of NSW.
Our success has developed from our commitment to excellence in all areas of the business, in particular quality control of turf varieties and attention to detail in all turf services.
What we grow
We grow and supply one variety of Couch and three varieties of Buffalo on farm throughout the year.

Our soft leaf Buffalo varieties give you a luxurious and deep green lawn. Aussie Green Buffalo is the most requested buffalo turf we grow, thanks to its brilliant colour and all round low maintenance. Buffalo grass is excellent in full sun, with Shade Master being able to tolerate more shade.

Delivery
We deliver and supply turf for clients right along the Northern Rivers, including but not limited to:
Give us a call with your square metres and whether you are after Couch or Buffalo. If you are not sure which suits the block, ask us, that is the easy part.
Turf is cut to order off the paddock so it goes down while it is still fresh. Give us as much notice as you can and we will lock the day in.
Have the bed levelled, topped up and watered so the turf goes onto damp, cool soil. See the laying notes below.
Laying & care
If you are gardening, landscaping or renovating, you want quality turf that will give you instant lawn. A good result starts before the pallet arrives.
Rotary hoe compacted soil and slope it away from the house for drainage. Top with good quality topsoil, level with a rake and roll it firm.
Water the prepared bed so the turf goes down onto damp, cool soil rather than hot dry dirt. It makes a real difference to how fast it takes.
Start along the longest straight edge and work across. Butt the edges together neatly, no stretching and no overlapping.
Keep the water up for the first couple of weeks after laying, until it ponds. This is the part people cut short and it is the part that matters most.
Order turf
We are on the farm at Tatham, just out of Coraki. Give us a ring during the week and we will sort the variety, the quantity and a delivery day.
